I am a Principal and Managing Director Avison Young Liverpool. Avison Young is a global real estate consultancy that is built on the belief that real estate isn’t just about the buildings, the size and the occupancies. At its best it’s about spaces and places that improve lives and help businesses thrive; for the employees, citizens and communities that make impact matter. We strive to be real estate at its best, helping people be more productive, prosperous and positive.
I have over 30 years’ experience in the property industry, providing consultancy advice on a variety of major mixed-use schemes across Liverpool City Region and specialising in leading teams on complex projects.
I am Chair of the Liverpool Place Partnership, a private sector collective across property and professional services that showcases the Liverpool City Region and aims to deliver investment to the region. An important element to this is as a collaborator with the public sector and as advocators of the investment agenda, as well as a narrative maker for the national and international discussion about place making.
I am also a Board member of Professional Liverpool, which represents Liverpool City Region’s professional community. We come together to learn, connect and grow so that we can contribute to a shared vision of a thriving economic future for the Liverpool City Region. One with a more balanced contribution from different sectors and greater opportunities for people to stay and develop their careers.
I am based in Avison Young’s Liverpool City Centre office, but work across the City Region in each of our local authorities, as well as nationwide and globally.
I have always lived in Liverpool City Region and currently reside in Crosby, home to Antony Gormley’s Another Place Iron Men. After 11 years working in Manchester I returned to Liverpool in 2015.
Liverpool City Region has everything! It is an inspiring place to live, work and play, with a vibrant city centre as well as miles of wonderful coastline and an Atlantic facing freeport. Liverpool is a place of so many firsts, not least of which is the world leading School of Tropical Medicine. And culture runs through Liverpool, with numerous listed buildings including the iconic waterfront, museums and theatres, with the most recent addition of Shakespeare North. And of course, music and the timeless Beatles.
The towns that make up the city region each have their own unique characteristics and it is great to see the investment into those places.
And finally, I am a Liverpool FC season ticket holder so Anfield has a special place in my life!
At Avison Young we are involved in many great projects across the City Region. We believe in creating real economic, social, and environmental value, powered by people. Creating places for our communities is at the very heart of what we do. And Liverpool Place Partnership collaboration with Liverpool City Region is vital to delivering investment.
LCR Connect will be a real boost for the region and the Strategic Investment Fund continues to contribute to the growth of our towns and the city. Creating ecosystems around, for instance, health and life sciences and advance manufacturing to deliver jobs is essential and the investment into Skills and Apprenticeships is an Important element of that.
